In my last post, I shared the details of how I created a compact gallery wall in our small hallway and today, as it’s all still fresh in my mind, I thought I’d share ten decor ideas to help you find some awesome items to incorporate into a gallery wall of your very own. There are lots of links within this list so you can explore the many possibilities and get your creative gallery wall juices flowing! Let’s go…
1 | Photos in Frames
First things first, place your personal photos in either matching or coordinating frames as they’re a must-have for your gallery wall. See my favorite IKEA frames here, here, here and here!
2 | Letters + Symbols
Wood letters (or even lighted marquee letters!) add another personalized touch your wall in the form of single initials, a full-on monogram or – if you’ve got the space for it – an entire name. Ampersands or hashtag symbols would be awesome as well!
3 | Vintage Keys
Whether they’re skeleton keys like the ones shown above (purchased from this Etsy store) or something special like the key to your first apartment, vintage keys offer a little bit of whimsy and nostalgia to your wall!
4 | Prints + Paintings
Gallery walls are a great location to display your favorite prints and paintings as an alternative to having them stand alone in a room. One of my favorite places to find prints is the ChattyNora shop on Etsy as well as the Happy Mail subscription from Oui Fresh from which I obtained the super cute “Shine Bright” print!
5 | Embroidery
Also readily available on Etsy are embroidery hoop art pieces that give off MAJOR vintage vibes even if they have super modern saying like this one and this one. Adorable!!
6 | Signs + Mirrors
Signs are a wonderful way to add character and mirrors are wonderful for, well, looking at yourself (and bouncing light around your room too!). For larger spaces, I love the look of farmhouse signs like these!!
7 | Planters
Bring your gallery wall to life by placing a low-maintenance succulent or air plant into a wall-mounted planter like this one either on its own, grouped together or dispersed across your space.
8 | Patches
Patches like this one or this one would make for an incredibly cute and quirky addition to any gallery wall but I think they’d be especially awesome in kids’ rooms!
9 | Key Hooks
Whether you need a few or just one, adding aesthetically pleasing key hooks like this one from World Market to your gallery wall gives you both form and function.
10 | Small shelves
To aid you in displaying things that you don’t want to mount to the wall, a small shelf is an amazingly handy tool. Take a look at this spice rack from IKEA which has tons of great gallery wall potential!
BONUS IDEA: I think gallery walls are the perfect place to store and display souvenir/sentimental items like Minnie Mouse ears, framed Playbills or small family heirlooms!
Those are my gallery wall decor ideas!! Leave yours below and make sure to check out my Small Space Gallery Wall post if you’ve not seen it already! xx
