Amongst all the flavors I encountered during childhood, the taste of chocolate milk is hands down one of the best and – no big surprise here – my kids feel the exact same way. Ella loves chocolate milk, Hendrix asks for it weekly and Sadie can down an entire cup before the other two even sit down. The only problem with this family favorite of ours is that it’s usually not the healthiest beverage choice when made with super sugary chocolate syrup. Fear not however as I have a clean (and vegan!) version of this chocolatey recipe that’s completely kid-approved. Here it is…
INGREDIENTS
1 Banana
2 Pitted Dates
1 1/3 cup Almond Milk
1 tbsp Raw Cacao Powder
3 Ice Cubes
HOW TO MAKE IT
Add all the ingredients into a blender (I use the single serve cup along with my Ninja blender), blend until completely liquified and serve. Makes about two cups.
There you have it! I really hope you – and your little ones – enjoy this recipe as much as me and mine do. Please let me know if you try it and don’t forget to share it if you like it!
P.S. A big thanks to my little models – Hendrix and Sadie! I wanted Ella to be in this one as well but she was off on a daddy-daughter date with Danny today. I’ll be sure to have her front and center for our next recipe post!

I make a smoothie similar to this quite a lot in place of an unhealthy dessert. I don’t use dates, though, because I’m never able to find them in my local stores! If I ever find some dates I’ll definitely try this!
