Happy Monday guys!! So, I ran a poll on Twitter a week ago asking which type of Valentine’s Day posts everyone wants to see most and, much to my surprise, Recipes took the top spot with 43%, beating out DIYs/Decor (21%), Love-Themed Anecdotes (18%) and my personal pick Gift Guides (18%). To compromise, I’ll be posting a gift guide today and a recipe on Friday this week. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy both and forgive me for not offering the option of “Please Make the V-Day Posts Stop!!”. As always, I’m using my blog categories to create my guide and present to you a nice variety of Valentine’s Day gift ideas. Here they are…
1 | Family | Follow Your Heart Banner from Target
With brilliant bright colors, fun tassels, golden accents and an amazing message, I think this would make a beautiful gift for the tiny Valentine in your life! Although I’m sure it’s meant to be a holiday decor item, this banner would be a great addition to a child’s bedroom all year long. I can picture it hung on its own above a bed or even added to a gallery wall to remind littles one to pursue that which they truly love. Of course, you can simply drag it out around this time each year and store it again once Valentine’s Day is through, but I just think it’s too pretty to pack away!
2 | Life | What I Love About You Journal from ModCloth
If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll be well aware that I love books that feature writing prompts and this lovely little journal is no exception. It contains 50 love-related prompts (in fill-in-the-blank form) that will aid you in showing some love to your significant other on Valentine’s Day and beyond as they’ll be able to look back on all your sweet words for years to come. Super simple yet so deeply personal, it’ll be the gift that makes your holiday one for the books. Get it?! Ok, ok – pardon the horrible pun but I really think you can’t go wrong with this one!
3 | Art | Weird Love Print from Chatty Nora
One of the greatest explanations of this crazy thing called love, this quote by Dr. Seuss has been made all the more amazing via this well-crafted print created by graphic designer Chatty Nora. The beautifully balanced typography is flanked with linear and heart-shaped flourishes and is available in black as well as red. I think this print is the perfect thoughtful and artsy gift for your partner or a couple who you know and love. Looking for additional options? The Chatty Nora shop on Etsy.com is filled with wonderful, whimsical quote prints. I like the Weird Love poster best, but you can view a few more of my favorites here, here and here.
4 | Tummy | Dream and Sugar Tea Set from Modcloth
How lovely is this heart-shaped cup and saucer set? I’m obsessed with its light and creamy shade of pink and its gorgeous gold trim. It would make an amazing gift for someone you love, a child you really love (it’s priced at $69.99) or even for yourself so you can treat your family and friends to a very dreamy Valentine’s Day teatime. Quite honestly, I would display this in the most obnoxious way in my house and I would use it on every appropriate occasion I could possibly find – Valentine’s Day, birthdays, Sundays – you name it!
5 | Beauty | Give Me Some Nude Lip Set from Sephora
Simply put, this is on the list because I WANT IT!! I absolutely love Boxum’s Full-On Lip Cream and I think we’re all always on the hunt for the perfect nude lip color. What better way to find your favorite your-lips-but-better look, than with a pretty package filled with five nude lip shades and a pencil to boot?! From the swatches, it appears that this set will suit a variety of skin-tones which is a quality I always admire in beauty gift kits. So, get it – for yourself, a friend, your favorite family member or, of course, your Valentine!
I hope you enjoyed this gift guide and even if you’re annoyed, as I am too at times, with the commercialized quality of this holiday, I hope you remember to show a little love to yourself and someone you care about be it with a gift, a card or the kindest of words. Xoxo from me to you!
