I meant to do this post shortly after receiving my first Grove Collaborative shipment but things have been kinda insane around here the past couple months. Take a look at this Insta post for more on that but the short version is it’s been busy in not the best way. Now that we’re somewhat settled however, I’m sitting down to tell you all about my experience with Grove Collaborative as well as what I’ve received from them so far.
I don’t think I’ve ever talked about this on my blog – or admitted it to many people in person for that matter – but I love cleaning products. Like LOVE cleaning products. I remember watching a commercial for a new cleaning spray with my best friend Cyndi and we both quickly said how excited we were to try it out. Birds of a feather I suppose but I was relieved that someone else on the planet felt the same way I did about what a lot of people consider to be a means to an end. At the time, I had no idea that cleaning videos were a thing on YouTube and that I would one day be binging on them, stumble across Meg Hickman’s channel LoveMeg in the process and be introduced to Grove Collaborative for the very first time.
If you’re not familiar with Grove, they are a company that makes and sells natural cleaning and personal care products and ships them straight to your door on a schedule of your choosing. They offer brands like Mrs. Meyer’s, Method, Yes To Carrots, Real Simple, Tom’s of Maine and Seventh Generation as well as their own Grove Collaborative products. They are a monthly subscription-type service but with flexible shipment options and a pretty affordable (in my opinion) VIP membership (more on all that later in the post!). I was beyond excited to give them a try especially since I’ve been obsessed with Mrs. Meyer’s products for years but always considered them kind of a luxury item that I usually went without. I was also eager to dive into the world of natural cleaning products because I love the idea of maintaining our home with things that are a little safer and gentler for our family.
This is a pretty lengthy post (I tried to pack it with lots of info for you guys!) so I highly recommend a morning coffee or an afternoon tea to accompany this one while we jump into all the what’s, how’s and even a who of my experience with Grove Collaborative. All settled? Let’s do this!
ORDERING + UNBOXING
After a couple days of research, I signed up with Grove Collaborative and placed my first order with them on January 18th. The signup offer at the time was a free kit valued at $30 (details below) that featured products from Mrs. Meyer’s and Grove themselves with a purchase of $20 or more PLUS a free 60-day trial of their VIP membership. I picked out a few items to meet the $20 requirement, completed the initial signup/purchase process and received my package on January 23rd. During my brief 3-business-day wait, I got an email from my Grove Guide (a personal assistant who offers helpful information and product suggestions and answers your questions via email or text) stating that I’d be getting a free gift in my next order as a thank you for waiting so patiently as their normal shipping time is just 24 hours.
When my order arrived, everything was packaged securely with air bags inside the boxes, tape over each bottle and bubble wrap around the candle and I could smell the Mrs. Meyer’s products upon opening the box (nothing spilled, they’re just that powerful!). I unboxed everything and – after a couple weeks of waiting because I was too sick to fully enjoy and photograph any of it at the time – I started to test out all the things I’d received. Here’s what I got…
WHAT I RECEIVED FOR FREE ($30 VALUE)
Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap in Geranium
I don’t think I’ve ever used Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap before so I’m really glad this was part of the signup offer. Smelling its geranium scent while I washed dishes made me think of Spring/Summer while we endured the last of our cold-for-California winter and it seemed to last as long – if not longer – than some of the larger bottles of dish soap we’ve bought from other brands. My mom enjoyed it so much, she went out and bought one in the honeysuckle scent!
Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap in Geranium
Could you purchase a less expensive hand soap? Of course. Would it smell as good and look as nice as this one sitting next to its matching Mrs. Meyer’s counterparts? Probably not. Do I mind having more of this deliciously floral scent in my house? Not at all. Side Note: I was able to pick the scent I wanted for each Mrs. Meyer’s product in the free signup kit!
Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Lotion in Geranium
I’m all about lotion 24/7. It’s at my desk, it’s in my purse and it’s above my bed because – especially during the colder months and especially when it comes to my hands – I have to keep it handy (yea, pun intended) at all times. Having this Mrs. Meyer’s lotion by the sink makes it super simple to keep my hands hydrated post-wash or after doing the dishes. And did I mention I like the smell?
Grove Collaborative Cleaning Caddy
Despite still being unsure as to where I should display this caddy (it deserves its own front-and-center spot for sure), I absolutely love it. It’s currently in my room on my dresser filled with my most used Mrs. Meyer’s sprays but it’ll get a proper home soon. In the meantime, I’ll keep toting it around from room to room to enjoy its pretty presence while I clean. Side Note: I can attest to just how durable this caddy is as I dropped it on our concrete porch with heavy cleaning products inside and it survived without a scratch, free of dents and with all its parts intact. Nice!
Grove Collaborative Walnut + Cellulose Scrubber Sponges
I’m not sure what special occasion I’m waiting for but these sophisticated-looking sponges are still in their packaging because I don’t want to use them for just any old scrubbing job. Perhaps I’ll wait until we have an awesome just-because dinner party and bust them out during a post-dessert kitchen cleanup chat. Or perhaps I’ll stop being a complete weirdo and just use them because I’ve never actually hosted a non-holiday dinner party. Either way.
WHAT I PURCHASED
Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Cleaner in Lavender
This scent is by far my current favorite from Mrs. Meyer’s and this spray is my most used since receiving this shipment as well as my second shipment (more on that in a moment). It cleans very well and I even use it on some of our glass surfaces like mirrors, shelving and doors when I can’t be bothered to grab a dedicated glass cleaner. Love it!
Mrs. Meyer’s Room Freshener in Lavender
When I ordered this one, I assumed it was the same size as the Multi-Surface so I was surprised to see how small it was (8oz vs 16oz) when my package arrived. Before I even removed the tape from the nozzle however, I could smell how much power it packs. Just a couple sprays turned my room into an amazingly sweet, lavender-y heaven proving that good things do come in small packages.
Method Daily Shower Spray in Eucalyptus Mint
I made this particular purchase after watching one of Meg Hickman’s videos and hearing her describe how good this spray makes your bathroom smell and now I can completely assure you she was telling the truth. It’s so refreshingly spa-like and I honestly love walking back into the bathroom after having sprayed this because it smells amazing. It also seems to do its job of keeping the shower clean in between cleanings which is, ya know, good too.
Grove Collaborative All Natural Soy Candle in Eucalyptus + Spearmint
I have this candle lit as I type this because I’m so obsessed with how amazing it smells. Its scent is fresh, warm and just the right amount of sweet and I truly wish I would have purchased at least a few of these to enjoy in different rooms of our house. I didn’t keep track to see if it burns for the 70+ hours stated on Grove’s site but I’ve definitely lit it on multiple days for many hours at a time and still have a good amount to go so I’m super satisfied.
WHAT I PURCHASED NEXT
Last month, I received my second Grove shipment (yay!) which arrived just one day after the order was processed. I was notified well in advance – via email one week before and via text two days before – so I had plenty of time to modify my cart and decide whether to go through with the purchase, change my shipment date or delay my shipment. This time around I ordered one Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Spray in the new mint scent (subtle but so good), one in the lemon verbena scent (one of my longtime faves), one Mrs. Meyer’s Room Freshener in lavender (so we don’t run out) and one in honeysuckle (it’s an awesome scent too!). I also received my free sorry-for-the-wait lip balm which I’m really liking so far. Once again, everything was packaged with care and I’m so happy with how quickly it got from my online cart to my actual doorstep.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
As I mentioned above, Grove Collaborative is a monthly subscription service but you can adjust your shipments very easily (I just delayed my March order until April and it took two clicks!). There’s also an option to pause your shipments so you can make one-off purchases according to the site (get that and lots more info on their FAQ page) which I haven’t yet tried. Grove does add products to your next month’s cart once your current order ships BUT I like the fact that things I’ve purchased previously along with things I might enjoy are there for me to quickly browse and it literally takes a click to remove anything you don’t want. I’ve gotten zero scammy vibes from this process so I’m fine with having a few suggested items placed into my cart each month.
Grove’s VIP membership is only $19.99 per year (after the free 60-day trial) which doesn’t seem bad at all considering you receive free shipping, price matching and, according to the Grove site, full-size products for free about once every 75 days. I personally think that’s the way to go if you plan on ordering every month (or most months) of the year. All in all, I’m extremely happy with the entire process I’ve experienced and all the products I’ve received so far. I’ll definitely update this post if anything changes but as of right now I’m a satisfied customer whose home and life is a little happier thanks to Grove’s lovely service. If you’d like to give Grove a try for yourself, you can use my referral link here to get a FREE 5-piece Mrs. Meyer’s set (or the current offer) with your first purchase!!
Please Note: This post is not sponsored in any way, shape or form and, as always, all opinions are my own. I’m simply passing all this information along to you because I’ve had such a great experience with Grove so far.
As always, thanks so much for reading guys!! Leave me a comment and let me know if cleaning is something you love to do or something you could do without! xx
