Let me start by saying I had SO much fun putting my vision board together!! From clipping magazines with Ella to arranging everything while listening to my #girlboss playlist on Spotify, the entire process brought me so much joy. And while it’ll take a lot of hard work to accomplish/receive the things I’ve put on my board, I already feel like they’re mine in a way because they’ve gone from something in my head to somewhere I can see them. Whether or not you subscribe to the law of attraction theory, vision boards are an excellent way to keep your goals front and center and to connect with them on a daily basis. They literally make sure you don’t lose *sight* of what you want to have, do and be and why you’re working toward those things.
In creating my vision board for 2019, I started by getting clear on what I want this year to be for me, who I want to be in the months and years ahead and how I want to show up for other people. After that, I selected photos and text (some from online and some from magazines) that make me really feel something when I see them. When I look at my board, I feel happy, motivated, hopeful and somehow like I’m already on my way to everything that’s on it. As you can see, there’s a sizable open space still which I’ll be filling in shortly with a few more inspirational bits. Among them will be a photo of the kids of course (because they’re my biggest “why” and happy kids are #goals!), my wellness/fitness aspirations for the year and somewhere I want to travel. I’ll post an updated picture on my Instagram once it’s done but for now, here are a few of the things on my vision board + how they earned their spot:
As I talked about in my Word of the Year post, I feel like I had a lot of learning to do before I could start doing big things. The combination of words above reminds me that the prep stage is complete and it’s NOW time to MANIFEST the life I want.
The older I’ve gotten, the more important my female friendship have become. I’m so deeply thankful for all the wonderful women in my life that are truly like my sisters (including my actual sister!) and this year I want to focus on giving them as much “strength and reliability” as they’ve given me over the years.
These three clippings really light me up every time I read them because they are truly things I’m striving to be/do this year. They’re essentially my mini mission statements!
I have three faux checks on my board this year. One represents money I’d like to receive and the other two are outgoing checks – one for funding my family and the other for donations to other people/organizations/etc.
I often worry about how I present myself – too girly, too sexy, too conservative, etc – so I really love this quote from Amber Heard because it’s a great reminder that we should all own our womanhood unapologetically. The “HOT PICS!” headline refers to my mission to take more photos of myself this year as it’s something I’ve neglected to do during the past few years.
Peonies are my favorite flower and even if they’re the silk ones from Amazon, I want them in my life this year. This photo also gives me all the fresh flower, white marble countertop lifestyle vibes! Joy is something I want to infuse into my life wherever and whenever I can. Whether I’m doing something big or small, simple or sensational, I want to do it with joy because life is precious and temporary. And this “role-model mama” clipping is positioned between the photos that represent my home and work life because I want to be an example to my children as both a loving mother and a successful woman.
While a new car purchase may not happen this year, this perfect-for-our-family Honda Pilot is on my board because it’s something I want to actively work toward affording in the nearish future! I also included photos of the interior so I can picture my family filling the seats as well as the dashboard to add to the envisioning effect.
The house-of-dreams photos I’ve selected represent not only the home I’d like to have in the future but also the clean, bright and super inviting feeling I’d like to create for our current home this year. I may also add some organization-themed photos because having a completely organized home is another one of my big goals for 2019.
Not only would I LOVE to own the blogger-themed sweatshirt above, its text is basically my ideal daily work schedule… 😉
One of my most exciting magazine finds was the “365 days’ worth of ideas + inspiration” headline because a year full of creativity and content creation is EXACTLY what I want in my life for 2019!
Last but not least, this iPad is coming to me this year!! I’m speaking it into existence right this very moment. I already have the keyboard case in my Amazon cart that will allow me to turn this tablet into a mini laptop situation for myself so I can take this blogging gig on the go. Coffee shops, park benches and sunny porches – here I come!!
Minus the few additions that are coming soon, that’s my vision board for 2019!! Please let me know if you’re going to create or have already created your vision board for this year AND (if you feel comfy doing so) share one or two things that are/will be on it. As always, thank you so much for reading as it truly means the world to me!! xx
