Hi guys!! If memory serves, this is my very first beauty product review on my blog which is super exciting. I don’t fancy myself a beauty blogger by any means (probably because I always doubt my abilities), but I do LOVE all things beauty and if I had the budget for it, I’d be buying new products each week. As that’s not currently a possibility however, I will try my best to post more often about the products I do have on hand. Today, we’ll be discussing the Good, Bad and Overall of the L’Oreal Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender.
I’m a huge fan of blending sponges as I always see a major improvement in the look of my makeup when I use them in comparison to brushes or my fingers (yea, I do that). I initially fell in love when I purchased my first Beauty Blender last May but I wasn’t infatuated with the idea of spending $20 a pop to keep my blending game strong. Fortunately, L’Oreal and a few other companies have released alternatives to everyone’s favorite blending sponge which claim to do a comparable job at a less costly price.
If you’re not familiar with the Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender – or blending sponges in general – it is a makeup sponge which is designed to be used wet (although curiously the packaging doesn’t state that) to apply your foundation using a bounce technique rather than the dreaded scrape-across-your-face-and-hope-for-the-best method employed by the dry makeup sponges of yesteryear. I’d probably give this particular blending sponge bonus points just because it’s pink (you know me!), but since we’re measuring based on performance not prettiness let’s see how the Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender stacks up…
A freshly unboxed Foundation Blender before dampening…
…and after wetting and squeezing it out. Talk about expansion!
THE GOOD
Its Blending Ability | When it comes to laying down an even layer of your favorite foundation quickly and easily and without soaking up too much product in the process, this sponge gets the job done brilliantly. I use it most frequently with L’Oreal’s Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (which I love!), but I’ve tried it alongside other foundations as well and the results were just as good.
Its Reasonable Price | At less than half the cost of the Beauty Blender with comparable capabilities, it’s a must-have item for beauty-loving girls on a budget. Currently, the cheapest price I’ve found is $5.99 via Bed Bath & Beyond.
Its Shape | An hourglass figure and a petite tip make it easy to get a grip and even easier to blend – especially in tight spaces like the under-eye area and sides of the nose. The sponge expands when you wet it (as shown above) and offers a large amount of surface area to work with.
Its Convenient Location | Available in shops like Target and CVS or wherever L’Oreal products are sold, this sponge is super simple to find during your regular drugstore run. I think this is a huge selling point since purchasing a Beauty Blender requires a trip – in person or via the internet – to a dedicated beauty shop or a department store.
THE BAD
Nothing!! I mean if I had to get SUPER critical then perhaps the name is a little lengthy, but other than that I’m a satisfied customer.
THE OVERALL
I’ve already repurchased the L’Oreal Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender because I absolutely adore it! If you’re a true beauty connoisseur, I’m sure you’ll be able to tell the difference between this sponge and the Beauty Blender, but even if you were to award it with a silver medal, its loss would be a matter of milliseconds not miles. All in all, I’d highly recommend this for anyone looking to add a reliable blending sponge to their makeup bag without having to part with a double-digit dollar amount.
As a side note, I have yet to try L’Oreal’s Concealer Blender or Contour Blender as the Foundation Blender does such an excellent job with both foundation and concealer in my opinion and I don’t use cream contour at the moment. If I do purchase either of these in the future, I’ll let you know how it goes. Also, if I buy another Beauty Blender, I’ll try to do a side-by-side comparison and update this post with additional thoughts (like how long each holds up and the results of a half-and-half face test) but for now I hope you’ve enjoyed this review! As always, thank you so much for reading, please leave any questions or comments below and I’ll talk to you again soon!!
