This is the third year in a row that I’ve shared my wishlist for Christmas (see here and here for the others) and despite having gotten maybe 10% of what’s on my previous lists, I’m still excited to do it again this year. Much like creating a vision board, I find putting together little lists of what I’m wishing for to be super therapeutic. Over the years, there have been multiple times in my life when I stopped hoping for things completely and I found it extremely difficult to envision a better life for myself. I didn’t feel like good things were coming and at times I didn’t even feel like I deserved them.
A few years and a whole lot of self-love later, I’m back to dreaming big and hoping hard. While the tagline of my wishlist Pinterest board reads “I want. I want. I want. Me. Me. Me. Now. Now. Now.” having a wishlist isn’t really a selfish thing. It’s ok to want and hope for and envision better things for yourself and your family and the world around you even when those things seem super out of reach at the current moment. Those wishes are what help keep our motivations burning hot and our doubts on the back burner. I implore you to create a wishlist of your own – whether it’s for the holidays or any other day and whether it’s filled with material things or things you wish to pursue. You deserve to dream – large and often and unrealistically.
Now, you’re probably thinking like, “Damn, that got way too deep for a post about a Christmas wishlist” but sometimes I feel the need to share the little back stories as to where my heart’s at when I write this blog. Hopefully, that’s more endearing than it is annoying but just in case, let’s move on! Below are the things that are making an appearance on my Christmas list this year…
1 | Brand New Bedding
I’m trying to get my room painted this coming week so it’s done before the holidays but it’ll still need some finishing touches after the paint dries. One such detail is a new duvet set as well as new sheets. I love this duvet cover + pillowcase set from IKEA to replace my old one from – no surprise here – also IKEA! It’ll be all white everything again with the exception of maybe a throw blanket and (if I’m really spoiled) some decorative pillows in either grey, cream or blush.
2 | The Perfect Mom Planner
I’ve completely failed at keeping up with paper planners in the past but as I’ve done well with updating my Apple calendar this past year, I’m ready to try again. The planner above from the Happy Planner Super Mom range is super cute and functional. I won’t go planner crazy with stamps and markers and all that (because I don’t have the time or patience necessary) but I do love this sticker pack so I’m wishing for that as well!
3 | Water for Dummies
As much as I’d love to pretend that I’m a responsible water drinker who consumes half my weight in ounces each day, I’m totally not. While it’d be nice to have an accountability partner to keep me motivated, I’ll settle for a water bottle that helps keep me on track. I love the fact that the design is etched as opposed to being a decal as it looks a lot classier in my opinion. Also, you can monogram (remember that word because I’m about to use it again in a moment) the bottle’s lid so it’s perfectly personalized!
4 | Earrings for an Adult
There’s something SO classic about a pair of pearl earrings and, after wearing Sadie’s surgical steel faux version for a few months now, I’m ready for an adult alternative. The ones shown above are from Macy’s and they’re currently on sale for a really good price but I’d settle for anything that’s an upgrade from the ones I confiscated from a five-year-old… #adulting
5 | All Things Monogram
I’m not sure if it’s a newfound self-love sorta thing (as I used to hate my name when I was younger) but lately I’ve wanted to put my mark on EVERYTHING. I love the way classic monograms look on anything from sweaters like the one above to these gorgeous earrings and even the water bottle we just discussed. I’m absolutely obsessed and I’ll likely be wishing for monogrammed goodies well beyond the holidays!
6 | Some Statement Tees
I’m currently on a quest to completely revamp my wardrobe which I’ve seriously neglected the past couple years. I want that perfect mix of classic and casual with a little bit of sexy here and there. Tees like these obviously fall into the casual category with their laid-back look and I love them. I’m all about this Mother of Dragons tee – because I’m a mama and entirely obsessed with Game of Thrones – as well as this ramen one, this coffee one and this “awkward” tee.
7 | A Selfie Stand
One of my goals for the next year is to take more photos with me in them. I am ALWAYS the one behind the camera and because of this, 90% of our family photos – and my Instagram feed – do not feature yours truly. Enter the flexible tripod of dreams that comes with a bluetooth remote and can hold not only cameras but also smartphones! It bends so it can cling to weird stuff like tree branches when there are no traditional tripod-friendly flat surfaces in sight which is another awesome feature. Nice!
8 | Tech Protectors
Since getting my new gold iPhone Xs, I’ve really wanted to find the perfect case to accompany it and I’m loving the look of the marble Loopy Case or the combination of this rose gold marble case and the matching popsocket from Coconut Lane. Either would be acceptable because they’ll protect my phone, ensure that I won’t drop it and they’re simply gorgeous!
9 | Apple Watch Alternative
Another year, another Fitbit on another one of my wish lists! The peach and rose gold color combo of this Fitbit Versa smartwatch is so lovely and its features are a nice upgrade from my old Fitbit Alta. The most important of which would be the heart rate tracking because I’d really like to get a better sense of how my workouts are working out. I’d love to own an Apple Watch in the future but I’m honestly in no rush because I enjoyed my previous Fitbit so much and the Versa looks pretty promising!
10 | Somewhere to Sit Pretty
As much as I enjoyed my current IKEA desk chair, it’s seen better days and I’d really like to replace it with something fancier that makes me feel like a total #girlboss even if I’m simply a stay-at-home mom at the moment. I haven’t even measured to see if this particular chair would fit my desk well – and I’d probably be better off asking for a new IKEA chair – but the tufted chair of dreams above is what I’m really wishing for!
Amongst the other things I’d love to receive this Christmas are Michelle Obama’s book Becoming (whose list is it NOT on?!) and the Urban Decay Naked Cherry palette or a full-size version of the Hoola Bronzer sample I received in my first Sephora box. If you’ve got a little extra time on your hands, type “wish list” into my search bar to see what I’ve wished for previously during Christmas, my birthday, spring, etc… The list literally goes on because I’m back to dreaming big and I hope you are too. Now, what are YOU wishing for this year?!
